I got this recipe from my colleague during our train journey ;). It came out well and since then have become a regular in our kitchen. Adding of cumin powder to this dish is purely optional. It tastes yummy with or without it. This fry requires less oil and is the simple dish I've prepared.
Ingredients
Chicken: 1 kg; wash and cut into pieces of required size
Ginger Garlic Paste: 1 tablespoon
Coriander Powder: 1 tablespoon
Chilli Powder: 1/2 tablespoon
Turmeric Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin Powder: 1/4 teaspoon (Optional)
Oil: 2 tablespoons
Onion: 2; finely sliced
Green Chillis: 3-4; adjust as per taste, slit vertically
Salt: as per taste
Garam Masala Powder: 1 teaspoon
Coriander Leaves: 2 tablespoons finely chopped leaves
Instructions
1. Marinate chicken with ginger garlic paste, coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, salt and oil. Keep it aside for 20 minutes.
2. Transfer the marinated chicken into a heavy bottom pan. Cook on medium flame till chicken starts oozing water.
3. Add finely sliced onion and cook till the water has almost evaporated and the chicken turns soft.
4. Add green chillis and garam masala powder. Saute for 5 minutes. Sprinkle finely chopped coriander leaves, combine well. Remove from heat and serve hot with chapati or any flavored rice.
